HONORING C. Edward Burke, Jr. upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the 2017 New Paltz
Dean's Award of Excellence and his induction into
its School of Business Hall of Fame

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of
and publicly acknowledge individuals who have distinguished themselves
through their exemplary careers, accomplishments, and purposeful lives
of service to their community; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
C. Edward Burke, Jr. upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the 2017 New Paltz Dean's Award of Excellence and his induction into
its School of Business Hall of Fame, to be celebrated with an Induction
Ceremony on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at the Grandview in Poughkeepsie,
New York; and

WHEREAS, The SUNY New Paltz School of Business Hall of Fame was
established in 2001 to recognize the achievements of students, faculty,
alumni and community members who have made significant contributions to
their respective business professions and to the educational activities
at the school; and

WHEREAS, A New Paltz School of Business alumnus, C. Edward Burke,
Jr. is a Managing Principal at The Hudson Valley Financial Group with
Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network in Highland, New York, providing
financial advice to his clients for the past 20 years; and

WHEREAS, Prior to joining the financial services industry, C. Edward
Burke, Jr. owned several businesses in New Paltz and was actively
involved in all facets of day to day management and operations; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to his profession, C. Edward Burke, Jr. serves as
Chairman of the Business Advisory Council at the College and on the Town
of New Paltz Zoning Board of Appeals; and

WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife Jill, and their
loving sons, CJ, Corey, and Casey, all of whom feel privileged to be a
part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and

WHEREAS, A man of singular distinction, C. Edward Burke, Jr. has
continually demonstrated extreme competence, extraordinary intelligence
and diligent leadership in his unwavering service to both his community
and profession and consequently has been selected for this most
prestigious honor; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which C. Edward Burke, Jr. has
displayed throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our

attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor C. Edward Burke, Jr. upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the 2017 New Paltz Dean's Award of Excellence and his
induction into its School of Business Hall of Fame; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to C. Edward Burke, Jr.
