HONORING Roy Linam upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2017 New Paltz
Student Leader of the Year Award and his induction
into its School of Business Hall of Fame
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of
and publicly acknowledge individuals who have distinguished themselves
through their exemplary careers, accomplishments, and purposeful lives
of service to their community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Roy Linam upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2017
New Paltz Student Leader of the Year Award and his induction into its
School of Business Hall of Fame, to be celebrated with an Induction
Ceremony on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at the Grandview in Poughkeepsie,
New York; and
WHEREAS, The SUNY New Paltz School of Business Hall of Fame was
established in 2001 to recognize the achievements of students, faculty,
alumni and community members who have made significant contributions to
their respective business professions and to the educational activities
at the school; and
WHEREAS, Born and raised in Queens, New York, Roy Linam attended
SUNY New Paltz School of Business to develop his talents as an
entrepreneur, investor, public speaker and peer mentor; and
WHEREAS, A SUNY New Paltz student, Roy Linam is both the Founder and
sitting President of the New Paltz Toastmasters International chapter, a
Teaching Assistant in the School of Business and a Business Plan Contest
winner; and
WHEREAS, During his time at SUNY New Paltz, Roy Linam worked at New
York City-based startup TradeIt and recently co-founded an innovative
e-commerce platform called SupplyMyStyle; and
WHEREAS, A man of singular distinction, Roy Linam has continually
demonstrated extreme competence, extraordinary intelligence and diligent
leadership in his unwavering service to both his community and
profession and consequently has been selected for this most prestigious
honor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Roy Linam has displayed
throughout his school career; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Roy Linam upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
2017 New Paltz Student Leader of the Year Award and his induction into
its School of Business Hall of Fame; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Roy Linam.
