CONGRATULATING Margaret Baxter Taylor Faurot upon
the occasion of celebrating her 100th Birthday on
March 27, 2017
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to commemorate
and recognize certain milestones celebrated by citizens of this great
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge
to the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their
past contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and
valuable asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Margaret Baxter Taylor Faurot upon the occasion of her
100th Birthday to be celebrated on Monday, March 27, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Margaret Faurot was born to Peter and Mary Reid Stuart on
March 27, 1917, in Lochgelly, a town in Fife County Council, Scotland;
and
WHEREAS, At the young age of eight, Margaret Faurot and her family,
emigrated to the United States; she and her brother, Alexander, and her
three sisters, Mary Stuart, Ethel and Elizabeth grew up in
Cornwall-on-Hudson, New York; and
WHEREAS, For 92 years, Margaret Faurot has called Cornwall-on-Hudson
her home; it is where she played tennis and basketball in high school,
met and married her husband, Irving Cornell Faurot, Sr. and where she
worked; from 1947-1995, she held the position of both Clerk and
Administrator for the Cornwall Public Library; she then served as the
Assistant Director for the Mother Goose Nursery School; and
WHEREAS, A faithful member of the Cornwall Presbyterian Church,
Margaret Faurot has served as a Deacon, and sang in the choir; she also
crafted, knitted and sewed to support the Apple Time Fair and the
Backpacks For Food Project; she is also an officer and member of the
Trinity Rebekah Lodge; and
WHEREAS, An avid Yankees fan, Margaret Faurot enjoys taking walks,
playing the piano and traveling across the United States and to
countries such as Scotland, England, Ireland, Wales, Australia, New
Zealand, Fiji, Germany, Russia, Norway, Austria, and the Panama Canal;
and
WHEREAS, Margaret Faurot, with her zest for life, has inspired and
enhanced the lives of her family and friends; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her four children, Peter
Charles Faurot, Irving (Sandy) Cornell Faurot, Jr., Randall Stuart
Faurot and Mary Margaret Faurot; her five grandchildren, John, Tory,
David, Seth, and Matt; her five great-grandchildren, Sarah, Taylor,
Brad, Grayson, and Zoe; and one great-great-grandchild, Katerina; as
well as her late husband, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of
her life and rejoice in her accomplishments; and,
WHEREAS, This exceptional centenarian has experienced the incredible
joys and sorrows characteristic of and reserved for those with the
stamina and courage to savor a full life; and
WHEREAS, Margaret Faurot has enriched the lives of those around her
through her joyous and sincere love for others and through the quiescent
charm and wisdom which comes only from a fullness of years; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly
recognize those who have reached such a remarkable age and who have
witnessed and celebrated the innovations, cultural developments and
awesome achievements of this country during the last century, while
themselves contributing to the growth and excellence of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Margaret Baxter Taylor Faurot upon the occasion of
celebrating her 100th Birthday; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Margaret Baxter Taylor Faurot.
