HONORING Dan Grimaldi, Ph.D. upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of The Linda Dano Heart
Award by HeartShare Human Services of New York
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor and pay
tribute to those individuals whose commitment and creative talents have
contributed to the entertainment and cultural enrichment of the citizens
of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Dan Grimaldi, Ph.D. has given not only of his time and
energies but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dan
Grimaldi, Ph.D. upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of The
Linda Dano Heart Award by HeartShare Human Services of New York to be
celebrated at its Spring Gala and Auction on Thursday, March 30, 2017,
at the New York Marriott Marquis in New York City, New York; and
WHEREAS, Since 1914, HeartShare Human Services of New York has been
making a world of difference in its community as a nonprofit human
services agency dedicated to improving the lives of people in need of
special services and support by helping these individuals develop to
their fullest potential and lead meaningful and enriched lives in the
community; and
WHEREAS, A New York City native, Dan Grimaldi is best known for his
portrayal of identical twin mobsters, Patsy and Philly Parisi, in the
critically acclaimed HBO series, "The Sopranos", for which he received a
2007 Screen Actors Guild Award nomination; in 2008, he and his castmates
won Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series and, he
received Best Actor in a Dramatic Short Film at The 2016 Atlantic City
Film Festival; and
WHEREAS, A lifetime member of the renowned Actor's Studio, Dan
Grimaldi has been committed to the New York City stage in various
capacities including, on-Broadway, off-Broadway, repertory, fringe and
everything in between; and
WHEREAS, In the past few years, Dan Grimaldi has performed on
numerous stages and in many plays including: "The Last Days of Judas
Iscariot", "The Jag", "Visiting Hours" and "Shelia and Angelo";
additionally, he starred in various films and shows such as: "The
Atlantic Motel", "Pasquale's Magic Veal", "The Mysteries of Laura",
"Limitless", and "The Quitter" as well as "Lucky Me"; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Lizette Chalela;
their two sons, Michael (Melissa) and James (Jade); seven grandchildren,
Alexis, Isabella, Michael, Jasper, Giuliana, Jordan and Angelo; brother,
Carmine; sister, Louise Rizzuto and his late Aunt Bedi and late brother
Johnny, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice
in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Dan Grimaldi, Ph.D. has
displayed throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dan Grimaldi, Ph.D. upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of The Linda Dano Heart Award by HeartShare Human Services of
New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dan Grimaldi, Ph.D.
