HONORING Dr. Stacey Watt upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Yellow Rose Award by
the Zonta Club of Grand Island

WHEREAS, From time to time, this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Dr. Stacey Watt upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Yellow Rose Award by the Zonta Club of Grand Island, New York,
celebrated on Wednesday, March 8, 2017; and

WHEREAS, New York State is home to countless women, strong and
colorful threads vital to the fabric of our rich heritage, who have and
continue to contribute to the advancement of our culture through their
traditional and non-traditional roles in society; and

WHEREAS, The Zonta Club, an international organization of
professional women who work to advance the status of women through
service and advocacy, sets aside March 8th of each year as Yellow Rose
Day, to honor the accomplishments of women worldwide; the Zonta Club of
Grand Island takes this opportunity to honor women whose courage,
determination and dedication have made a difference in the lives of
others within the community and beyond; and

WHEREAS, A lifelong Grand Island resident, Dr. Stacey Watt is a
well-known physician in Western New York; she is currently the chief of
anesthesiology for Kaleida Health and Program Director for the Pediatric
Anesthesiology Fellowship at the University of Buffalo; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Stacey Watt also started the Grand Island Challenge to
raise funds for the new John R. Oishei Children's Hospital, a
freestanding hospital providing specialized children-centered care; and

WHEREAS, Devoted to her hometown, Dr. Stacey Watt has been seeking
donations to dedicate a room in the new hospital to Grand Island,
letting the future patients know how much the town cares; and

WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband and two
daughters, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and
rejoice in her achievements; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Stacey Watt upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Yellow Rose Award by the Zonta Club of Grand Island; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dr. Stacey Watt.
