Senate Resolution No. 1341

CONGRATULATING Liam Mrotzek upon the occasion of
winning a Bronze Medal in the 2017 Special Olympic
World Winter Games
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay just tribute to those citizens who embody the true American spirit,
demonstrating personal courage and conviction in pursuit of athletic
achievement without regard to physical limitation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Liam Mrotzek upon the occasion of winning a Bronze Medal in
the 2017 Special Olympic World Winter Games; and
WHEREAS, Liam Mrotzek, a member of the Special Olympics U.S.
National Snowshoe Team, competed in the 2017 Special Olympic World
Winter Games in the city of Ramsau, Austria; and
WHEREAS, He has participated in the Special Olympics Snow Shoe
program for past five years, and has attended state games for five years
as well as regional competitions in Queensbury, New York; and
WHEREAS, Liam Mrotzek medals in all events; he participates in the
200m; 400m and the 4x100 meter with his classmates from Huntington High
School; and
WHEREAS, Two team members are Alumni of Huntington High School, and
they actually extended their practice season to help Liam train for this
year's World Games; and
WHEREAS, This year, Liam Mrotzek attended a training camp in
Killington, Vermont, where it was determined that he would run the 200m,
400m and the 4 x 400m relay; subsequently, he medaled in the 200m and
the 4 x 400m relay in the world games, and placed 7th in the 400m; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
applaud the achievements of its citizens who would elect to challenge
life with an uncommon spirit and determination, demonstrating by example
and purposeful action that commitment to personal goals is the
wellspring of self-fulfillment and triumph; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Liam Mrotzek upon the occasion of winning a Bronze Medal in
the 2017 Special Olympic World Winter Games, and to wish him the best in
all his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Liam Mrotzek.
