Senate Resolution No. 1351

COMMENDING Hani Ashamalla, M.D. upon the occasion
of his designation for special honor at Doctor's
Recognition Day on March 29, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality of life in the communities across this great State of New
York is enriched by the diligence and compassionate commitment of those
individuals whose singular purpose is the care and welfare of others;
and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Hani Ashamalla, M.D. upon the occasion of his designation for
special honor by the Medical Society of the County of Kings, Inc., the
Academy of Medicine of Brooklyn and the Richmond County Medical Society,
to be celebrated at its Doctor's Recognition Day on Wednesday, March 29,
2017, at Gargiulo's Restaurant, Brooklyn, New York; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Hani Ashamalla serves as Chairman of Radiation Oncology
at New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital; and

WHEREAS, Hani Ashamalla received his medical degree from Ain-Shams
University Faculty of Medicine in Cairo, Egypt; he trained in
Pulmonology and was awarded a Master's degree in 1989, prior to
beginning his Radiation Oncology residency at New York Methodist
Hospital; and

WHEREAS, In addition, he completed fellowship training in Radiation
Oncology at the University of Pennsylvania before joining New York
Methodist Hospital as an attending in 1996; and

WHEREAS, This esteemed man is actively involved in several national
clinical trials and he has more than 100 publications in cancer research
in national and international journals; and

WHEREAS, In the faithful performance of his duties and
responsibilities, Dr. Hani Ashamalla's ongoing efforts and notable
achievements have significantly contributed to bettering the quality of
life in his community; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, Dr. Hani Ashamalla has continuously
displayed initiative and an unrelenting commitment when pursuing the
highest of goals, and he has served as a role model of leadership to be
emulated by all; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Hani Ashamalla, M.D. upon the occasion of his designation for
special honor at Doctor's Recognition Day on March 29, 2017; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Hani Ashamalla, M.D.
