COMMENDING Erich Anderer, M.D. upon the occasion
of his designation for special honor at Doctor's
Recognition Day on March 29, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality of life in the communities across this great State of New
York is enriched by the diligence and compassionate commitment of those
individuals whose singular purpose is the care and welfare of others;
and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Erich Anderer, M.D. upon the occasion of his designation for
special honor by the Medical Society of the County of Kings, Inc., the
Academy of Medicine of Brooklyn and the Richmond County Medical Society,
to be celebrated at its Doctor's Recognition Day on Wednesday, March 29,
2017, at Gargiulo's Restaurant, Brooklyn, New York; and

WHEREAS, A neurosurgeon at NYU Lutheran Medical Center, Dr. Erich
Anderer assumed the esteemed role of Chief of Neurosurgery at NYU
Lutheran on June 1, 2016; his appointment underscores NYU Lutheran's
commitment to further enhance accessibility to high-quality medical care
in Brooklyn, and significantly increasing the medical center's
neurosurgical capabilities; and

WHEREAS, Erich Anderer, a native New Yorker, is an undergraduate
alumnus of Columbia University; he went on to earn his medical degree
from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, and
completed his residency in neurosurgery at the NYU School of Medicine;
and

WHEREAS, With board certification in neurological surgery, Dr. Erich
Anderer also has special expertise and training in the field of spine
surgery; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Erich Anderer has maintained a faculty appointment in
the Department of Neurosurgery at the NYU School of Medicine since July
of 2010; and

WHEREAS, In addition, he has made numerous presentations on the
results of his investigative work, including talks on best practices
related to neurosurgical trauma patients, spinal cord injury, and
neurological injuries in combat sports participants; and

WHEREAS, Active in numerous professional and community
organizations, Dr. Erich Anderer serves on the Board of Directors for
the Japanese Medical Society of America as well as the Open Space
Alliance, a parks conservancy in north Brooklyn; he also hosts a
quarterly back pain special on SiriusXM's "Doctor Radio"; and

WHEREAS, In the faithful performance of his duties and
responsibilities, Dr. Erich Anderer's ongoing efforts and notable

achievements have significantly contributed to bettering the quality of
life in his community; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, Dr. Erich Anderer has continuously
displayed initiative and an unrelenting commitment when pursuing the
highest of goals, and he has served as a role model of leadership to be
emulated by all; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Erich Anderer, M.D. upon the occasion of his designation for
special honor at Doctor's Recognition Day on March 29, 2017; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Erich Anderer, M.D.
