COMMENDING Ralph Ruggiero, M.D. upon the occasion
of his designation for special honor at Doctor's
Recognition Day on March 29, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality of life in the communities across this great State of New
York is enriched by the diligence and compassionate commitment of those
individuals whose singular purpose is the care and welfare of others;
and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Ralph Ruggiero, M.D. upon the occasion of his designation for
special honor by the Medical Society of the County of Kings, Inc., the
Academy of Medicine of Brooklyn and the Richmond County Medical Society,
to be celebrated at its Doctor's Recognition Day on Wednesday, March 29,
2017, at Gargiulo's Restaurant, Brooklyn, New York; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Ralph Ruggiero is the Chairman of the Department of
Obstetrics and Gynecology at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center; and

WHEREAS, In this capacity, Dr. Ralph Ruggiero oversees the
department which provides more than 40,000 women's health visits at five
locations, and provides clinical oversight and leadership for the
attending physicians, non-physician providers, residents and health
professions students; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Ralph Ruggiero also serves as President of the Medical
Staff and Medical Director of Ambulatory Services for Wyckoff Heights
Medical Center; and

WHEREAS, After receiving his Doctor of Medicine from the Autonomous
University of Guadalajara, School of Medicine in 1979, Ralph Ruggiero
completed his residency at Lutheran Medical Center in 1984; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Ralph Ruggiero spent the first 22 years of his
illustrious medical career in private practice before serving as the
Network Chief of Women's Health at the Lutheran Family Health Centers;
and

WHEREAS, This esteemed man has also held numerous academic positions
and is currently an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at
several accredited universities, both nationally and internationally;
and

WHEREAS, Dr. Ralph Ruggiero is a Diplomat of the American Board of
Obstetrics & Gynecology and serves as a fellow of the American College
of Surgeons; he is the Chair of the American College of Obstetrics and
Gynecology's (ACOG) Section 2, and is also a member of ACOG's
Legislative committee; and

WHEREAS, In the faithful performance of his duties and
responsibilities, Dr. Ralph Ruggiero's ongoing efforts and notable

achievements have significantly contributed to bettering the quality of
life in his community; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, Dr. Ralph Ruggiero has continuously
displayed initiative and an unrelenting commitment when pursuing the
highest of goals, and he has served as a role model of leadership to be
emulated by all; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Ralph Ruggiero, M.D. upon the occasion of his designation for
special honor at Doctor's Recognition Day on March 29, 2017; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Ralph Ruggiero, M.D.
