COMMENDING the Rosenhoch family upon the occasion
of their designation as recipient of the 2017
Community Leader Family Award by the National
Federation for Just Communities of Western New York
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend the Rosenhoch family upon the occasion of their designation as
recipient of the 2017 Community Leader Family Award by the National
Federation for Just Communities of Western New York, celebrated at its
Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at the Buffalo
Convention Center in Buffalo, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Community Leaders Awards recognize
individuals/organizations in WNY who have made significant contributions
to this region through their involvement in volunteer activities and/or
their special achievements in specific areas of community and
professional life; the Rosenhoch family truly exemplifies the National
Federation for Just Communities (NFJC) of Western New York's mission of
promoting goodwill, understanding, respect, and trust; and
WHEREAS, The Rosenhochs' are a family that truly cares about their
community; they are committed to improving lives today, and establishing
a better tomorrow for future generations; led by parents, Howard and
Valerie, this is a family which gives of itself in so many ways, from
fundraising to organizing, from leadership to hands-on volunteerism,
from advocacy to philanthropy, they do it all; and
WHEREAS, Howard Rosenhoch has been a successful lawyer for numerous
years; recently, he retired as an attorney at Jaeckle Fleischmann; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to his faith, Howard Rosenhoch has served as the
President of both the Jewish Federation of Greater Buffalo and Temple
Beth Zion; he has attended and participated in many National meetings
including the American Israel Public Affairs Conference; and
WHEREAS, Valerie Rosenhoch held the position of Vice President for
Legislative and Regulatory Policy at Univera Healthcare, and was the
Executive Director of Univera Community Health; in addition, she served
as the Chair of the Yad B'Yad Board of Directors, and was a member of
the Near East and West Side Health Task Force, and the Board of
Directors of the Holocaust Resource Center; and
WHEREAS, Valerie Rosenhoch is also a participant of the Advisory
Board for the New York State Office of People with Developmental
Disabilities, and is a founding member of the Developmental Disabilities
Alliance of Western New York Family Committee and iCanShine Bicycle
Camp; and
WHEREAS, Valerie and Howard Rosenhoch have strived to instill the
value of community service in their two sons, Alan and David; and
WHEREAS, Alan Rosenhoch is the Business Development Manager at
Invest Buffalo, where he works to bring job-creating business to the
Buffalo area; he is a vital member of the Business First 30 Under 30
Class of 2013, and he is involved with SABAH, where he has served as a
volunteer, and instructor, and member of the Board of Directors; in
addition, he was named the Volunteer of the Year; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Alan Rosenhoch holds the title of both
Treasurer and President-elect of the Kadimah School, and is co-founder
of Jewish Young Professionals of Buffalo; and
WHEREAS, Born with Down syndrome, David Rosenhoch, who graduated
from Emerson High School's Hospitality Program and Canisius College's
YALT Program, is an inspiration to all; at Temple Beth Zion, he works
with the 3 year-olds in the Play and Learn School, and is a volunteer in
their Interfaith Mitzvah program; and
WHEREAS, David Rosenhoch also donates his time and energy assisting
at St. Benedict's Catholic School, Cradle Beach Camp, SABAH, and a
program for soccer for athletes with disabilities, which selected him as
their 2013 Volunteer of the Year; he values his independence, and
proudly shares a house with six other young men who are living with
disabilities; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by
individuals for the benefit of others which the Rosenhoch family has
displayed throughout their lives; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Rosenhoch family upon the occasion of their designation as
recipient of the 2017 Community Leader Family Award by the National
Federation for Just Communities of Western New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Rosenhoch family.
