HONORING Jordan Nichols upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the Church
Ushers Association of New York, Inc. on May 19, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Jordan Nichols upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Church Ushers Association of New York, Inc., to be
celebrated on Friday, May 19, 2017; and

WHEREAS, The son of Scott and Michele Nichols, Jordan Nichols was
born in East Elmhurst, New York, the youngest of three children; he has
been an active member of The Antioch Baptist Church of Jamaica since he
was able to walk; and

WHEREAS, Jordan Nichols was baptized by his Pastor Reverend Timothy
Mitchell on August 4, 2002; he gained a love for ushering watching his
Grandfather Usher Toler B. Hillian, Great-Uncle Joshua Morgan and his
Uncle William Graham; and

WHEREAS, Subsequently, Brother Jordan Nichols began his ministry of
servitude on The Antioch Baptist Church Junior Usher Board; and

WHEREAS, In addition to serving as Director of Music of The Antioch
Baptist Church Music Ministry, Jordan Nichols is a member of The North
Carolina Club and Youth Ministry, as well as a Pastor's Aide and Church
Anniversary Chairman; and

WHEREAS, A true asset to his community, Jordan Nichols has served as
a member of the Maggie B. Green Youth Department of Eastern Baptist
Association and as the Church Ushers Association of Queens and Vicinity
as Junior and Young Peoples President and Grand Marshal; and

WHEREAS, Jordan Nicholas has given tirelessly of his time and energy
to the Church Ushers Association of New York State in such capacities as
Financial Secretary, Board Member, 2nd Vice President, 1st Vice
President and Board Chairman; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, he served the National United Church Ushers
Association as well as the Eastern Region Church Ushers Association as
Sergeant-at-Arms, Financial Secretary, Assistant Regional Director and
Regional Director; and

WHEREAS, Educated in the New York City Public School System, Jordan
Nichols is currently the President Emeritus of Queens High School of
Teaching, Liberal Arts and the Sciences; and

WHEREAS, Jordan Nichols, in achieving this high honor, may take just
pride in the inspiration and contribution to the spirit of excellence he
brings to his family, church, community and school; and

WHEREAS, A young man of singular distinction, Jordan Nichols has
distinguished himself as a young man of superlative ability,
establishing a high standard of excellence and purposefulness of life
rarely achieved in youthful years; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jordan Nichols upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Church Ushers Association of New York, Inc. on May
19, 2017; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Jordan Nichols.
