COMMENDING Joyce Waschitz upon the occasion of her
retirement after 19 years of distinguished service
to the Jewish Federation of Greater Orange County

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
the significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed
residents of this noble Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Joyce Waschitz upon the occasion of her retirement after 19
years of distinguished service to the Jewish Federation of Greater
Orange County to be celebrated at its Gala Bruncheon on Sunday, April
30, 2017, at Kol Yisrael, in Newburgh, New York; and

WHEREAS, Since 1977, the Jewish Federation of Greater Orange County
has been working with community members to build and support a strong
Jewish community, enriching people's lives, helping those in need, and
embracing new Jewish families; and

WHEREAS, Under the luminous leadership of Joyce Waschitz, the Jewish
Federation of Greater Orange County has added numerous new programs
including the PJ Library, the Jewish Book Council and the Big Nosh, in
conjunction with old favorites, such as the Jewish Film Festival and the
Salute to Israel Parade; and

WHEREAS, As the face of the Federation, a venerable bridge builder
and trusted advisor to many Presidents, Board Members and Committees,
Joyce Waschitz remains a woman of valor who dedicated her life to
bettering this respectable organization; and

WHEREAS, For the past 19 years, Joyce Waschitz rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to the Jewish Federation of Greater
Orange County, earning the admiration, esteem and affection of her
colleagues; and

WHEREAS, In her capacity as Executive Director of the Jewish
Federation of Greater Orange County, Joyce Waschitz served with loyalty,
honor and distinction, and was governed by a keen sense of duty and
always showed a unique grasp of human problems in her official acts; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Joyce Waschitz upon the occasion of her retirement after 19
years of distinguished service to the Jewish Federation of Greater
Orange County; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Joyce Waschitz.
