HONORING Elimar Perez Ramos upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the 2017 Youth of
the Year Award by the Boys & Girls Club of Newburgh
on March 22, 2017
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Elimar Perez Ramos upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the 2017 Youth of the Year Award by the Boys & Girls Club of Newburgh,
celebrated at an Awards Dinner on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at
Anthony's Pier 9 in New Windsor, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Boys & Girls Club's highest honor, the Youth of the
Year Award, recognizes outstanding contributions to a club member's
family, school, and overall community, as well as their perseverance in
overcoming personal challenges and obstacles; these honorees are shining
examples and living proof that great futures start at Boys & Girls
Clubs; and
WHEREAS, Elimar Perez Ramos was born in Puerto Rico, and moved to
the United States with her family at the young age of nine; for the last
three years, she has been a vital member of the Boys & Girls Club of
Newburgh; she truly believes that if you are willing to step out of your
comfort zone, you can achieve anything; and
WHEREAS, Elimar Perez Ramos describes herself as fun, silly, smart,
caring and a very friendly person; during her free time, she helps her
community by walking in the Habitat Walk of Humanity and volunteering at
the local soup kitchen; and
WHEREAS, An ambitious and hard-working senior at the Newburgh Free
Academy, Elimar Perez Ramos is an enthusiastic member of the Air Force
Junior ROTC program; after graduation, she plans to attend college in
New York City and pursue a career in photography and business; she hopes
to travel the world and experience different cultures; and
WHEREAS, When Elimar Perez Ramos is not in school or helping her
community, she works at Office Depot, loves to sing in her church choir,
and plays both baseball and basketball with her friends and family; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable young woman is grateful for the
opportunities that the Boys & Girls Club of Newburgh have given her; it
has greatly contributed to her academic, personal, and leadership
development; and
WHEREAS, The Boys & Girls Club of Newburgh changed her life by
providing her with her first job in their summer camp, driving her to
become more mature and responsible, and taught her how to manage money;
and
WHEREAS, Through her active involvement in the community and her
sincere dedication to others, Elimar Perez Ramos has become an
exceptional role model for others; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to honor the
youth of today, and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and
achievements best exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this
great State and Nation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Elimar Perez Ramos upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the 2017 Youth of the Year Award by the Boys & Girls Club
of Newburgh on March 22, 2017; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Elimar Perez Ramos.
