HONORING Anne Schomaker upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the inaugural Clara
Kellner Award by the Columbia-Greene Hospital
Foundation

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those
individuals whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to
enhance the stature of the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to recognize
that the quality and character of life in communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
individuals who are devoted to the welfare of their community and its
citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Anne Schomaker upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
2017 Clara Kellner Award by the Columbia-Greene Hospital Foundation to
be celebrated at its annual Winter Blast on Saturday, February 4, 2017;
and

WHEREAS, Based on the caring spirit of philanthropist Clara Kellner,
this auspicious award was created to acknowledge and recognize those
selfless individuals who carry on her commitment to volunteerism; and

WHEREAS, Anne Schomaker has been selected as the recipient of the
Clara Kellner Award for making volunteerism and community service a way
of life; her gifts of time and treasure are invaluable to Columbia
Memorial Health (CMH), the Columbia-Greene Hospital Foundation, and the
community-at-large; and

WHEREAS, This extraordinary woman has given tirelessly of her time
and energies to such organizations as the Hospital, the Hospital
Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, the Kinderhook Garden Club, and the
Columbia County Historic Society; and

WHEREAS, A true role model, Anne Schomaker has inspired countless
individuals to serve in a volunteer capacity and has been instrumental
in the success of numerous programs and projects; she has demonstrated
both exceptional performance and unwavering commitment in her
contributions towards the betterment of the community; and

WHEREAS, Volunteerism is an essential element of all societies; it
provides a way in which the human values of community, caring and
serving can be sustained and strengthened; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, volunteerism promotes family and community
solidarity; most importantly, people who volunteer their time in civic
and charitable endeavors inspire others to the call of volunteerism; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and

sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Anne Schomaker upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Clara Kellner Award; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Anne Schomaker.
