HONORING Glenn Forman upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2017 Donald J.
Leahey Commitment to Youth Award by the Boys & Girls
Clubs of Southern Rensselaer County on April 8, 2017
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Glenn Forman
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2017 Donald J.
Leahey Commitment to Youth Award by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern
Rensselaer County, to be celebrated at its 23rd Annual Cash For Kids
Auction on Saturday, April 8, 2017; and
WHEREAS, A man of exceptional character, Glenn Forman is receiving
this prestigious award for his many accomplishments, and for fostering
the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Rensselaer County's mission of
inspiring and enabling youth from all walks of life to realize their
full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens; and
WHEREAS, Glenn Forman truly believes that helping others, especially
young people, is the only way to leave anything sustainable behind in
this life; the lives he has impacted and the children he has changed for
the better, are how he will leave this world a better place for all to
live; and
WHEREAS, Glenn Forman was raised by his hard working and devoted
parents in South Bronx, New York; during the summers, he worked as a
camp counselor; he not only played sports with the kids on the athletic
fields, but also invested his time and energy into teaching children
what it really meant to fully and truly believe in themselves; and
WHEREAS, In 1999, Glenn Forman and his four children moved to the
Capital District, where he began his long and distinguished career as a
Substance Abuse Counselor; while helping teenagers and young adults cope
with addiction, he was also raising his four sons to be successful men;
and
WHEREAS, After moving to Rensselaer, New York, in 2002, Glenn Forman
married his wife, Susan, and together, they raised two sons; in 2005, he
enrolled his youngest son in the City of Rensselaer Little League, and
subsequently, began announcing the games that same year; through the
years, he has continued to be a source of warmth, laughter and pure
entertainment to all who attend the games; and
WHEREAS, In 2014, Glenn Forman became the Vice President of the
Little League, a position which he still proudly holds to this day; and
WHEREAS, From his early involvement as a camp counselor, to his work
with teenagers coping with substance abuse, and lastly, to his
involvement with the City of Rensselaer Little League, Glenn Forman has
time and time again given back to his community and its children
tenfold; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Glenn Forman upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 2017 Donald J. Leahey Commitment to Youth Award by the Boys & Girls
Clubs of Southern Rensselaer County; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Glenn Forman.
