HONORING Norris Pearson upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Capital District
YMCA President's Award on May 4, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Norris Pearson upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Capital District YMCA President's Award to be celebrated on Thursday,
May 4, 2017, at the Albany Marriott, Albany, New York; and

WHEREAS, Norris Pearson is being recognized with this auspicious
award for displaying a deep commitment to strengthening the community
and for sharing the YMCA's passion for helping those in need in every
community of the Capital District; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to his
community, Norris Pearson has given tirelessly of his time and energies
volunteering for the Troy Family YMCA since 2012, during which time he
has served as a member of the Property Committee and Advisory Council;
and

WHEREAS, Norris Pearson has lead the organization's Branch Annual
Campaign where he has secured scholarship funds for youth, teens and
families in the Troy community; and

WHEREAS, Norris Pearson currently serves as Branch Advisory Council
Chair; in this capacity he leads volunteers and assists with community
collaborations which serve the Troy and Lansingburgh areas; in addition,
he has been instrumental in bringing the Troy Family YMCA and RPI
Athletic teams together to provide volunteer opportunities to
student-athletes; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Norris Pearson has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Norris Pearson has displayed
over the years; he has exhibited the true spirit of this esteemed award
through his tireless dedication to the YMCA and his community; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Norris Pearson, that future generations may know and appreciate his

admirable character, his many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which he is held by his peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Norris Pearson upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the Capital District YMCA President's Award on May 4, 2017; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Norris Pearson.
