HONORING John S. Taillon upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2017 Lifetime
Achievement Award by the New York State Recreation
and Parks Association
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished citizens who would devote their life's work
and purpose to community service, contributing to the welfare of the
citizens of their communities and this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
John S. Taillon upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
2017 Lifetime Achievement Award by the New York State Recreation and
Parks Society; and
WHEREAS, The New York State Recreation and Parks Society was founded
in 1940 to promote quality recreation and park opportunities for all
citizens of New York State through education, training and support; and
WHEREAS, The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes an individual in
the State of New York who has achieved prominence in achieving
outstanding and lasting contributions to the advancement of recreation
and parks on the local or State level; and
WHEREAS, Such contributions must provide a long term impact on
recreation or parks lifetime achievement award recipients must have
provided at least 20 years to the field of recreation and parks; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Canton, New York, James Taillon has served as
Village of Canton Recreation Director since July of 1987; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to his community, James Taillon has given
tirelessly of his time and energies to the Canton Recreation Department
throughout his 30 years there; and
WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
James S. Taillon, that future generations may know and appreciate their
admirable character, their many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which they are held by their peers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor James S. Taillon upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award by New York State Recreation and
Parks Society; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to James S. Taillon.
