HONORING Barbara McHale upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the You're An Angel
Award by A Toast to Life
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Barbara McHale has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Barbara
McHale upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the You're
An Angel Award by A Toast to Life at its Annual Gala on Tuesday, May 2,
2017, at the Franklin Plaza in Troy, New York; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of SUNY Albany, Barbara McHale received her
nursing degree from Samaritan Hospital and held certifications as an
Oncology Nurse, Certified Nurse, and Oncology Nurse Navigator; and
WHEREAS, Starting her illustrious career in 1977, Barbara has held
various positions, specializing in oncology, breast cancer navigation
and hospice; and
WHEREAS, A key contributor to Quality Assurance Program for patient
care at Saratoga Hospital in 2005-2006, Barbara McHale also took on the
role of Manager/Breast Navigator at the Women's Health Center for
Northeast Health and, subsequently, nursing leadership roles with
Northeast Health and affiliates; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Barbara McHale was a researcher of patient
navigation and survivorship, and presented on this topic at the local,
regional and National level; and
WHEREAS, After holding clinical management positions at St. Mary's
Hospital, Samaritan Hospital and Saratoga Hospital, Barbara McHale then
held the title of Nurse Navigator of the Hildegard Medicus Cancer Center
at St. Mary's Hospital and Hildegard Medicus Radiation Oncology at
Samaritan Hospital, the position from which she officially retired from
in 2009; and
WHEREAS, Barbara McHale has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to her community, Barbara McHale is an active
member of the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer's Association, Leukemia
Lymphoma Society, and Visions of Strength as well as the Nancy Clemente
Cancer Fund; and
WHEREAS, For her steadfast and unremitting commitment to her
community Barbara McHale was named a Power up the Pink Medical
Professional and a 2013 WO-MEN Who Rock; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Barbara McHale has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Barbara McHale has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Barbara McHale upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the You're An Angel Award by A Toast to Life; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Barbara McHale.
