COMMENDING Joan Weichmann upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the Amherst
Museum's Women's Interclub Council on May 6, 2017

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Joan
Weichmann upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition
by the Amherst Museum's Women's Interclub, to be celebrated at its
Annual Kentucky Derby Luncheon on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at the Buffalo
Niagara Heritage Village in Amherst, New York; and

WHEREAS, Joan Weichmann grew up on a dairy farm in Marina, New York,
where she helped her family make maple syrup; she attended East Aurora
High School, and studied accounting at Bryant & Stratton; and

WHEREAS, Today, Joan Weichmann is a resident of the Village of
Williamsville, where she lives with her husband, Ron, and their three
dogs; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to her community, Joan Weichmann holds the title
of President of Buffalo Federation Women's Club and serves on the
General Federation of Women's Clubs New York State Board of Directors;
and

WHEREAS, Joan Weichmann enjoys spending time outdoors, skiing,
swimming, golfing and hiking; she also loves to dance, and considers
herself to be an amateur sommelier, serving as a member of the American
Wine Society, Chaine des Rotisseurs; and

WHEREAS, Truly passionate about her hobbies, Joan Weichmann held the
position of President of the Amherst Dance Club and the Victorian Dance
Society, and is the Vice President of Shea's Spotlight, and a vital
member of the Friends of Amherst Symphony; and

WHEREAS, Joan Weichmann is also a member of the Bell Ski Club Board
of Directors and the Lederhosen Ski Club; and

WHEREAS, Proud of her German heritage, Joan Weichmann is a member of
the Board of Directors and served as Vice President of both the
German-American Society and the Club Lorelei German Club; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Joan Weichmann upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Amherst Museum's Women's Interclub Council on May 6,
2017; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Joan Weichmann.
