COMMENDING Dixie Lee Sacks upon the occasion of
her retirement after 30 years of distinguished
service to the Village of Round Lake
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
the significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed
residents of this noble Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Dixie Lee Sacks upon the occasion of her retirement after 30
years of distinguished service to the Village of Round Lake celebrated
at a party held in her honor on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at the Round
Lake Municipal Building in Round Lake, New York; and
WHEREAS, Dixie Lee Sacks joined the Village Board of Round Lake in
1987, before being elected to the esteemed position of Mayor in 1990;
she is proud to be Round Lake's first female and longest-serving Mayor;
and
WHEREAS, Throughout her tenure, Dixie Lee Sacks led the village
through major infrastructure programs such as replacing the water and
sewer pipes in 2003; in addition, the village connected to the Clifton
Park water supply, installed natural gas, and repaved all village roads;
and
WHEREAS, Dixie Lee Sacks' proudest accomplishment was the
designation of the 1847 Ferris Organ as a National Historic Landmark,
the first such honor for an organ; and
WHEREAS, For the past 30 years, Dixie Lee Sacks rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to the Village of Round Lake, earning
the admiration, esteem and affection of her colleagues; and
WHEREAS, In her capacity as Mayor, Dixie Lee Sacks served with
loyalty, honor and distinction, and was governed by a keen sense of duty
and always showed a unique grasp of human problems in her official acts;
and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Dixie Lee Sacks upon the occasion of her retirement after 30
years of distinguished service to the Village of Round Lake; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dixie Lee Sacks.
