CONGRATULATING the Wayne Central Varsity
Cheerleading Team and Coach Stephanie Lee upon the
occasion of capturing the 2017 New York State Public
High School Athletic Association Division II Large
Championship
WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate the
Wayne Central Varsity Cheerleading Team and Coach Stephanie Lee upon the
occasion of capturing the New York State Public High School Athletic
Association Division II Large Championship on Saturday, March 4, 2017,
at the SRC Arena and Events Center at Onondaga Community College; and
WHEREAS, After the preliminary round, Wayne Central was ranked
fourth place out of eight teams, which advanced the Eagles to the
finals; after performing a nearly perfect routine, Wayne Central was
named the New York State Champions, increasing its score from
preliminaries to finals by almost 30 points; and
WHEREAS, This was the first time the Wayne Central Varsity
Cheerleading Team has ever competed at the New York State Championships;
the team took home the State Title and capped its first-ever undefeated
season with the school's first State Championship in any sport; and
WHEREAS, Proudly donning the school's colors of navy blue and gold,
family, friends, and the community at large loyally and enthusiastically
supported the Eagles throughout their journey as they ended their season
with an impressive overall record; and
WHEREAS, In a sport such as cheerleading, which demands athletic
prowess, speed and agility, Head Coach Stephanie Lee and her expert
coaching staff worked hard to hone the skills of this championship team,
teaching these outstanding athletes lessons which will prove invaluable
both on and off the field; and
WHEREAS, Coach Stephanie Lee and all of the outstanding athletes on
the Wayne Central Varsity Cheerleading Team have clearly utilized
dedication, determination and teamwork in providing a lasting
contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of their
school; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the members of the Wayne Central Varsity Cheerleading Team:
Jacqueline Arnold, Jessica Arnold, Kaitlyn Caccamise, Gracie Casselbury,
Sera Ciulla, Brooke Forrest, Kaitlin Girard, Samantha Hall, Casey
Jurcsak, Chloe Jurcsak, Viktoria Maystruk, Taylor Mottier, Alyvia Rauen,
Bailey Rohlin, Alyssa Rosselli, Rachelle Scofield, Samantha Sherlock,
Kacie Stalder, Tyra Wickman-Bushart and Alyssa Wicks; and Head Coach
Stephanie Lee on their outstanding season and 2017 New York State Public
High School Athletic Association Division II Large Championship; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of the Wayne Central Varsity Cheerleading
Team, Head Coach Stephanie Lee, Athletic Trainer Elizabeth Bradshaw and
Athletic Director Anthony Carusone.
