COMMENDING Dennis Kane upon the occasion of his
retirement after 20 years of distinguished service
to Cheektowaga School District

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
the significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed
residents of this noble Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Dennis Kane upon the occasion of his retirement after 20 years
of distinguished service to Cheektowaga School District; and

WHEREAS, In 1974, Dennis Kane graduated from Marquette University,
with a double major in Philosophy and Journalism; during this time, he
lived and worked at Casa Maria House of Hospitality, a Catholic Worker's
House; and

WHEREAS, After college, Dennis Kane was a vital part of a team that
built residential services models for those who suffered from chronic
mental health issues, Transitional Services; he considers this position
to be the most transformative experience of his life; and

WHEREAS, In 1997, Dennis Kane joined the Cheektowaga School District
as Business Administrator before serving as Superintendent, the position
from which he officially retired from in 2016; and

WHEREAS, For the past 20 years, Dennis Kane rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to the Cheektowaga School District,
earning the admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues; and

WHEREAS, In his capacity as Superintendent, Dennis Kane served with
loyalty, honor and distinction, and was governed by a keen sense of duty
and always showed a unique grasp of human problems in his official acts;
and

WHEREAS, In completing 20 years of service as a Superintendent,
Dennis Kane leaves behind more than mere bricks and mortar; he leaves
behind a legacy to the residents of the Cheektowaga community and to
future generations of its students; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Dennis Kane upon the occasion of his retirement, and for his
significant contributions to education in New York State; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dennis Kane.
