HONORING Heather Brown upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of a Young Professionals
Award by the Sullivan County Democrat

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those young adults within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Heather Brown upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of a
Young Professionals Award by the Sullivan County Democrat; and

WHEREAS, Heather Brown was selected for this esteemed honor in
recognition of her hard work, ambition, and creativity, as well as for
her profound impact in and around the community of Sullivan County; and

WHEREAS, After graduating from Monticello High School in 2000,
Heather Brown earned a Biology degree from SUNY Binghamton in 2004; and

WHEREAS, During this time, an initial plan to start a career in
Colorado morphed instead into a return home to the Town of Bethel, where
Heather Brown grew up stocking shelves and setting out newspapers inside
her grandparents' famous Kauneonga Lake business, Vassmer's General
Store; and

WHEREAS, Those happy days gave Heather Brown a service-oriented
attitude, and led to her position as a research assistant in the
Sullivan County Division of Planning; she was soon promoted to research
analyst, followed by junior planner/environmental specialist; and

WHEREAS, In 2008, Heather Brown was asked to work on the Sullivan
County Energy Commission where her research and analytical skills proved
valuable in crafting energy efficiency recommendations; this also marked
the beginning of a long relationship with Sullivan Alliance for
Sustainable Development where she currently serves as Sustainability
Coordinator; and

WHEREAS, Heather Brown resides in Smallwood with her significant
other, Steev, and their daughter, Emilia; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Heather Brown upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
a Young Professionals Award by the Sullivan County Democrat; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Heather Brown.
