MEMORIALIZING Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim
April 16-22, 2017, as Toddler Immunization Week in
the State of New York
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to promote the
health and welfare of all New Yorkers; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim April 16-22, 2017, as
Toddler Immunization Week in the State of New York, in conjunction with
National Toddler Immunization Week; and
WHEREAS, Vaccines are one of the greatest achievements of modern
civilization, preventing the spread of life-threatening diseases and the
deaths of more than two million people each year according to the World
Health Organization; and
WHEREAS, National Infant Immunization Week is held each year to
highlight the importance of protecting infants from vaccine-preventable
diseases and to celebrate the achievements of immunization programs and
their partners in promoting healthy communities; and
WHEREAS, Since 1994, hundreds of communities across the United
States have joined together to celebrate the critical role vaccines play
in protecting children, communities and public health; and
WHEREAS, The New York State Senate should use every measure at its
disposal to promote the health of our children and the use of vaccines
to accomplish this crucial public health goal; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim April 16-22, 2017, as
Toddler Immunization Week in the State of New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Honorable Andrew M. Cuomo, Governor of the State of
New York.
