CONGRATULATING the Shenendehowa Boys High School
Varsity Swimming and Diving Team and Head Coach
Chuck Dunham upon the occasion of being ranked No. 1
in New York State by the National Interscholastic
Swim Coaches Association
WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate the
Shenendehowa Boys High School Varsity Swimming and Diving Team and Head
Coach Chuck Dunham upon the occasion of being ranked No. 1 out of 22
schools in New York State by the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches
Association (NISCA) in the Large School Category (950+ student body);
and
WHEREAS, Proudly donning the school's colors of green and white,
family, friends, and the community at large loyally and enthusiastically
supported the Plainsmen throughout their journey as they ended their
season with an impressive 11-0 overall record, including winning the
Section II Division I Swimming and Diving Championship; to the praise of
their excited fans, the Plainsmen scored 503 points to beat the
Bethlehem High School Boys Swimming and Diving Team by an impressive
151-point margin on Saturday, February 18, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Prior to capturing the Section II Division 1 Championship,
the Shenendehowa Boys' High School Varsity Swimming and Diving Team won
the LISCA Eastern States Championship with an impressive 554 points on
January 21, 2017, at the Nassau County Aquatic Center; and
WHEREAS, In sports such as swimming and diving, which demands
athletic prowess, speed and agility, Head Coach Chuck Dunham and
Assistant Coaches Katie Mion and Dennis Hogan worked hard to hone the
skills of this championship team, teaching these outstanding athletes
lessons which will prove invaluable both in and out of the pool; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Chuck Dunham and all of the outstanding athletes
on the Shenendehowa Boys High School Varsity Swimming and Diving Team
have clearly utilized dedication, determination and teamwork in
providing a lasting contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a
tradition of their school; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the members of the Shenendehowa Boys High School Varsity
Swimming and Diving Team: Matthew Burns, Michael Catanzaro, Nate
Constable, Zach Dahoda, Quinten De Man, Jake Eipp, Colin Fitzgerald,
Yang Zheng Foon, Mike Galvin, Brian Harding, Frank Harnisher, Devin
Herbinger, Erik Herrero, Jackson Homan, Joseph Homan, Kaleb Hotaling,
James Jordan, Ryan Katinas, Ian Killane, Peter Kirkpatrick, Adam Kogan,
Zack Lassetter, Jinwook Lee, Michael Leonard, Nick Lydon, Lance Meeson,
Shrujay Rompicherla, Jack Ryan, Nick Salzone, Eric Scanlon, Eric Scott,
Matt Stucchi, and Josh Tsai; Head Coach Chuck Dunham; and Assistant
Coaches Katie Mion and Dennis Hogan upon the occasion of being ranked
No. 1 in New York State, and winning the Section II Division 1 Swimming
and Diving Championship; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of the Shenendehowa Boys High School Varsity
Swimming and Diving Team, Head Coach Chuck Dunham, and Assistant Coaches
Katie Mion and Dennis Hogan.
