HONORING Bridget Sander upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Volunteer of the
Year Award by the Gliding Stars of Western New York
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Bridget Sander upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Volunteer of the Year Award by the Gliding Stars of Western New York, to
be celebrated at its Annual Victory Luncheon on Sunday, May 7, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1994, Gliding Stars of Western New York, an
adaptive ice skating program for individuals with disabilities
headquartered in Buffalo, New York, now has seven chapters in four
states and continues to grow; this vital organization is supported by
more than 200 volunteers both on and off the ice; and
WHEREAS, Bridget Sander is being recognized with this auspicious
honor for her steadfast and unwavering service to Gliding Stars of
Western New York throughout the 2016-17 season; and
WHEREAS, A young woman of singular distinction, Bridget Sander has
distinguished herself as a young woman of superlative ability,
establishing a high standard of excellence and purposefulness of life
rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, Bridget Sander, in achieving this high honor, may take just
pride in the inspiration and contribution to the spirit of excellence
she brings to her family, friends, community and school; and
WHEREAS, This occasion presents an opportunity for this Legislative
Body to wish Bridget Sander continued success throughout her school
years and beyond; and
WHEREAS, With her sense of civic duty and her commitment to others,
Bridget Sander represents the best development of the potential which is
inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Bridget Sander upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Volunteer of the Year Award by the Gliding Stars of Western New
York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Bridget Sander.
