HONORING Claudine L. Williams upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the Mother of Pearl
Award by the Frank Chapman Memorial Institute, Inc.
on May 13, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those nurses from this great Empire State who have
distinguished themselves through professional excellence and have made
significant contributions to the quality of life of its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Claudine L. Williams upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Mother of Pearl Award by the Frank Chapman Memorial Institute,
Inc. to be celebrated at its 9th Annual Extravaganza on Saturday, May
13, 2017, at the Albany Ramada Plaza Hotel in Albany, New York; and

WHEREAS, A native of Kingston, Jamaica West Indies, Claudine L.
Williams and her family migrated to New York's Capital Region in 1983;
her passion for helping others fueled her interest to pursue a rewarding
career in the healthcare industry where she has proudly served for more
than 15 years; and

WHEREAS, Claudine L. Williams earned her Licensed Practical Nurse
credentials with the Capital Region Board of Cooperative Educational
Services (BOCES); shortly thereafter, she continued her education with
Maria College in Albany, where she earned her Associate of Applied
Science degree in Nursing; and

WHEREAS, Throughout her career, Claudine L. Williams has proven to
be a dedicated nursing professional, benefiting from experiences working
effectively as part of multi-disciplinary teams; she is incredibly
resourceful, responsive to change and challenges, and works to achieve
collective objectives in patient care; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, Claudine L. Williams has a strong commitment
to excellence in healthcare, and has a patient-centered philosophy of
care through innovative caring skills combined with her advanced
clinical skills; and

WHEREAS, Claudine L. Williams served as a Licensed Practical Nurse
with the Capital District Psychiatric Center (CDPC) in Albany for three
years; after transitioning into a Registered Nurse, she worked for an
additional four years with the geriatric and forensic patient population
within CDPC, a position she truly enjoyed; and

WHEREAS, Through her work with the CDPC, Claudine L. Williams
tirelessly serves as an advocate for persons with developmental
disabilities and strives to implement systemic change to improve their
quality of life, and day-to-day living; and

WHEREAS, Currently, Claudine L. Williams holds the title of
Registered Nurse with the New York State Office for People with

Developmental Disabilities where she serves as the Incident Compliance
Officer in the Incident Management Unit; in this capacity, she
investigates deaths which occur within the state individual residential
care facilities, and identifies opportunities and implements strategic
models to reduce resident mortalities; and

WHEREAS, When she is not working or helping someone, Claudine L.
Williams enjoys fashion, traveling, writing and exploring new
adventures; and

WHEREAS, With her throughout has been her loving son, Nasier Brace,
who has shown her love and support and rejoices in her many
achievements; and

WHEREAS, Built upon the proud tradition of caring, the profession of
nursing is dedicated to implementing the best practices to deliver the
highest quality of care to those whom they serve; and

WHEREAS, These exceptional individuals, leaders in their profession,
make a difference in the lives of every one of their patients, as well
as the patients' family members they serve each and every day; they have
truly proven themselves to be great assets to the health and welfare of
the citizens of the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, A woman of true integrity, Claudine L. Williams has served
as a Registered Nurse with distinction, enthusiasm, dedication and
honor; for almost four decades, she has rendered faithful, conscientious
and valuable service to the Capital Region, earning the admiration,
esteem and affection of her colleagues; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Claudine L. Williams upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the Mother of Pearl Award by the Frank Chapman Memorial
Institute, Inc. on May 13, 2017; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Claudine L. Williams.
