HONORING Dinnie Shanley upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Sister Mary Coons
Award by The Food Pantries for the Capital District

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and

WHEREAS, From time to time, this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dinnie
Shanley upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Sister
Mary Coons Award by The Food Pantries for the Capital District, to be
celebrated at its 23rd Annual Community Auction on Saturday, May 13,
2017, at Christ Our Light Church in Loudonville, New York; and

WHEREAS, A longtime supporter of the fight against hunger, Dinnie
Shanley was the Director of Member Services at the Regional Food Bank of
Northeastern New York, where she was instrumental in the relationship
and partnership between The Food Pantries and the Regional Food Bank of
Northeastern New York; and

WHEREAS, In addition, Dinnie Shanley was an employee at The Food
Pantries, serving as the Community Liaison with the member pantries,
later transitioning her position into a volunteership; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to the citizens of the Capital Region, Dinnie
Shanley was the founder of the Day After Program at Equinox as well as
instrumental in the success of The Community Auctions; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Dinnie Shanley has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Dinnie Shanley has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It is the objective of this Legislative Body to honor and
support those individuals who have displayed their commitment to the
betterment of their communities; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dinnie Shanley upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Sister Mary Coons Award by The Food Pantries for the Capital
District; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dinnie Shanley.
