HONORING Virginia Golden upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2017 Third Age
Achievement Award in Health and Human Services by
Senior Services of Albany

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Virginia Golden upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
2017 Third Age Achievement Award in Health and Human Services by Senior
Services of Albany, to be celebrated at its 21st Annual Third Age
Achievement Awards Luncheon on Friday, May 19, 2017, at Wolfert's Roost
Country Club, Albany, New York; and

WHEREAS, Each year, this auspicious event recognizes the
contributions that area residents and professionals have made in their
communities during the Third Age of their lives; Virginia Golden will
receive this award for her valuable achievements and devoted service to
her community after the age of 60; and

WHEREAS, Virgina Golden has served as CEO of St. Peter's Hospital
and Albany Memorial Hospital since April of 2016; in this capacity, she
is responsible for leading each hospital's strategy, growth, and
operations in achieving clinical, financial and quality of care
objectives; and

WHEREAS, Virginia Golden began her illustrious career at St. Peter's
Hospital in 1970, as a part-time typist; through the years she has been
promoted to positions of increasing responsibility and was first named a
vice president of the hospital in 1987; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, this esteemed woman has held numerous
positions involving patient care, clinical service lines, safety and
quality improvement, oversight and strategic planning; and

WHEREAS, Throughout her exemplary 46-year career at St. Peter's
Hospital, Virginia Golden has demonstrated the knowledge, leadership
skills and vision necessary to inspire its staff to provide the best
possible care; and

WHEREAS, The success of St. Peter's Hospital and Albany Memorial
Hospital is in direct correlation to the efforts of Virginia Golden,
whose involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an
impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising
standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the institution and
the community it serves; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Virginia Golden has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Virginia Golden upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the 2017 Third Age Achievement Award in Health and Human Services by
Senior Services of Albany; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Virginia Golden.
