Senate Resolution No. 2114

HONORING Michael Whiteman upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2017 Third Age
Achievement Award in Law by Senior Services of
Albany

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Michael Whiteman upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 2017 Third Age Achievement Award in Law by Senior Services of
Albany, to be celebrated at its 21st Annual Third Age Achievement Awards
Luncheon on Friday, May 19, 2017, at Wolfert's Roost Country Club,
Albany, New York; and

WHEREAS, Each year, this auspicious event recognizes the
contributions that area residents and professionals have made in their
communities during the Third Age of their lives; Michael Whiteman will
receive this award for his valuable achievements and devoted service to
his community after the age of 60; and

WHEREAS, A founding member of Whiteman Osterman & Hanna LLP, Michael
Whiteman serves as the head of the firm's Energy and Telecommunications
Practice Group; and

WHEREAS, In addition, Michael Whiteman has an active practice in
corporate organization and transactions, as well as in business,
professional and governmental ethics and responsibility; and

WHEREAS, Prior to founding Whiteman Osterman & Hanna, Michael
Whiteman served as counsel to Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller and
Governor Malcolm Wilson from 1971 to 1974; he also worked as an adjunct
professor at Albany Law School in 1977, and he sat on the New York State
Law Revision Committee; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Michael Whiteman has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Michael Whiteman, that future generations may know and appreciate his
admirable character, his many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which he is held by his peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Michael Whiteman upon the occasion of his designation as recipient

of the 2017 Third Age Achievement Award in Law by Senior Services of
Albany; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Michael Whiteman.
