HONORING the Somers Middle School 10th American
Heritage Living History Day
WHEREAS, The State of New York takes great pride in acknowledging
significant events in its esteemed local municipalities; and
WHEREAS, The Somers Middle School 10th American Heritage Living
History Day will be celebrated at Somers Middle School on May 25, 2017;
and
WHEREAS, The Somers Middle School 10th American Heritage Living
History Day is sponsored by the Somers Middle School PTA, the Somers
Lions Club, and the Somers Historical Society; and
WHEREAS, The Somers Middle School 10th American Heritage Living
History Day is a presentation of 17th through 21st Century living
historians who bring history alive and honors America, community
volunteers, and protective services; and
WHEREAS, The Somers Middle School 10th American Heritage Living
History Day will feature a Somers Middle School Living History program
with the Star Fife and Drum Corps and Historic Color Guard, and the
Middle School Chorus; other attractions include a re-enactment of the
life of the Revolutionary War and Civil War soldier and camp, portrayals
of early American life and historic figures, World War I and II
re-enactors and programs, and American war veterans; and
WHEREAS, The Somers Middle School 10th American Heritage Living
History Day will also recognize the Board of Education, Somers Police
Department, Somers Fire Department, EMTs, State Police, PTA, Somers
Historical Society, SEF, Somers Lions Club, the Rotary Club, Habitat for
Humanity, Daughters of the American Revolution, GAR, Yorktown Historical
Society, and local officials for their community service; and
WHEREAS, The Somers Middle School 10th American Heritage Living
History Day is a wonderful tradition that many local residents and
families look forward to; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Somers Middle School 10th American Heritage Living History
Day; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Somers Middle School, Somers PTA, Somers Lions Club, and
the Somers Historical Society.
