HONORING David Evans upon the occasion of his
retirement after 42 years of distinguished service
to the Canton Central School District

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of
and publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and
character whose endeavors have enhanced the quality of education in this
great State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
David Evans upon the occasion of his retirement after 42 years of
distinguished service to the Canton Central School District; and

WHEREAS, For the past 42 years, David Evans rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to the Canton Central School
District, earning the admiration, esteem and affection of his
colleagues; and

WHEREAS, He joined the Canton Central School District as a bus
driver in March of 1976, and will retire in June of 2017; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his long tenure, David Evans routinely began and
ended his work days in the dark, logging hundreds of thousands of miles,
and safely transporting Canton Central School children from their homes
to their schools and back; and

WHEREAS, He will long be remembered for his willingness to go the
extra mile to help a student in need, and for his warm and cheerful
personality, especially with the special education students he
transported across St. Lawrence County; and

WHEREAS, David Evans is valued by the Canton Central School District
as an employee whose word was his bond and whose character is beyond
reproach, and who serves as an example of selfless service and
integrity; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor David Evans upon the occasion of his retirement after 42 years of
distinguished service to the Canton Central School District; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to David Evans.
