Senate Resolution No. 2215

COMMENDING Ron and Jill Barton upon the occasion
of their designation for special recognition by
Mount Saint Mary College on June 5, 2017
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Ron and Jill Barton upon the occasion of their designation for
special recognition by Mount Saint Mary College, to be celebrated at its
39th Annual Invitational Golf Tournament and 5th Annual Tennis
Tournament on Monday, June 5, 2017, at The Powelton Club in Newburgh,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Ron and Jill Barton have been selected as this year's Golf
Honorees in recognition of their steadfast and unwavering commitment to
Mount Saint Mary College and the community-at-large; and
WHEREAS, Lifelong residents of the Hudson Valley, Ron and Jill
Barton have been married for over 34 years; and
WHEREAS, Together, the couple have served on the Boards of Directors
of Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, The Orange County Chamber of
Commerce, and The Johnes-Holden Home; in addition, they have been vital
members of the Assisi Church Finance Committee, the Calvary Presbyterian
Church Trustees, and the New York State Auto Dealers Association; and
WHEREAS, After graduating from the Newburgh Free Academy, Ron Barton
graduated from Northwood University in Midland, Michigan, where he
prepared for his career in the automobile industry; and
WHEREAS, Ron Barton began his career at the Newburgh Park Motors
Chrysler dealership; in 1985, he and his father-in-law purchased Bard
Chevrolet; today, Ron is also the owner of Barton Chevrolet Cadillac;
and
WHEREAS, Jill Barton was a student at the Newburgh Free Academy; she
earned her bachelor's degree at Northwood University, and obtained her
Master of Business Administration degree at Mount Saint Mary College in
2009; and
WHEREAS, In 1986, Jill Barton began her career as a part-time
accountant at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital; she quickly rose through the
ranks and currently holds the title of Vice President of Finance; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her work with St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital,
Jill Barton serves as an independent consultant with Arbonne
International; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of their community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Ron and Jill Barton have stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With them throughout have been their two children, Jessica
and Jason, both of whom have shown them love and support and rejoice in
their many achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by
individuals for the benefit of others which Ron and Jill Barton have
displayed throughout their lives; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Ron and Jill Barton upon the occasion of their designation for
special recognition by Mount Saint Mary College on June 5, 2017; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Ron and Jill Barton.
