MOURNING the death of Charlie Biasotti, dedicated
father and grandfather, distinguished citizen and
devoted member of his community

WHEREAS, Members of the Armed Services from the State of New York,
who have served so valiantly and honorably in wars in which this
country's freedom was at stake, as well as in the preservation of peace
in peacetime, deserve a special salute from this Legislative Body; and

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commend those
who have served in times of active conflict, as well as those who have
served in times of peace; and

WHEREAS, Charlie Biasotti of New Windsor, New York died on Monday,
May 1, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Charlie Biasotti proudly served his country as a member of
the United States Army in the 424 Battery B Battalion during the Korean
War; and

WHEREAS, For his courageous service during the War, Charlie Biasotti
was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, The Republic of Korea
War Service Medal with three bronze stars, the United Nations Service
Medal and the Army Good Conduct Medal; in addition, he was awarded the
Medal of Appreciation by a representative of the Korean government at
the 2001 Army Reunion of the 424 at West Point, New York; and

WHEREAS, Charlie Biasotti distinguished himself in his profession
and by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the
welfare of his community; and

WHEREAS, Charlie Biasotti's commitment to excellence, and his spirit
of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including
charitable and civic endeavors; and

WHEREAS, Charlie Biasotti is survived by his wife of 63 years,
Alice; three daughters, Nancy, Eileen and Kathleen (John) Gengo; two
sons, Michael (Barbara) and Greg; 13 grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Members of the United States Armed Forces, who served so
faithfully and courageously in wars in which our Nation's freedom was at
stake, as well as in the preservation of peace during peacetime, deserve
the highest commendation of this Legislative Body; and

WHEREAS, The dedication and sacrifices of our military personnel
ensure our continued role as a Nation which embodies the ideals of
democracy, and is a defender of liberty for peoples throughout the
world; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is very pleased to have this
opportunity to express its gratitude to the men and women of the United

States Armed Forces for their tremendous sacrifices made for our Nation
and for the benefit of all Americans; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Charlie Biasotti, dedicated father and grandfather,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his community; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Charlie Biasotti.
