HONORING Arthur L. Aidala, Esq. upon the occasion
of his designation as recipient of the 2017 Civic
Award by the Bay Ridge Community Council
WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in this Nation, and the
great State of New York, is reflective of the purposeful lives and good
works of those civic-minded community members who dedicate their lives
and careers to the service of others; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Arthur L. Aidala, Esq. upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the 2016 Civic Award by the Bay Ridge Community Council to be
celebrated at its 66th Annual Dinner Dance on Thursday, June 1, 2017, at
Rex Manor in Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, Arthur L. Aidala earned his bachelor's degree from the
State University of New York, College of Purchase in 1989; upon being
awarded his Juris Doctorate Degree from the City University of New York
Law School in 1992, he was admitted to the New York and New Jersey Bars
that same year; and
WHEREAS, In 1992, Arthur L. Aidala began his distinguished career in
law as a Senior Assistant District Attorney in the Kings County District
Attorney's Office; from 1993-1997, he held the position of Senior Trial
Attorney; in this capacity, he tried many complex felony and homicide
trials, supervised 25 Assistant District Attorneys in the Early Case
Assessment Bureau and Investigations Bureau, and wrote and argued
Appeals for the Office; and
WHEREAS, Arthur L. Aidala resigned from his seat in 1997, and opened
his own law practice; Aidala Bertuna & Kamins dedicates approximately
80% of its time to legal work involving criminal defense charges,
contractual issues, real estate, wills, probate, estate planning and
business/corporate legal matters, practicing in both State and Federal
Courts; and
WHEREAS, The remainder of the firm's practice focuses on helping
neighbors in its Brooklyn community on such matters as real estate
closings, estate affairs and civil issues; the firm's New York City law
offices are located in Manhattan and Brooklyn, and it maintains an
associate office (Studi Legali Associati) in Milan, Italy; and
WHEREAS, Arthur L. Aidala is one of the most accomplished and well
known defenders of serious criminal cases in New York; Crains New York
Business labeled him the "new go to lawyer for those in big trouble" and
a "master of defense"; for more than 25 years, he has handled high
profile cases at the investigative, trial and appellate levels; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to his profession, Arthur L. Aidala held the
title of President of the Columbian Lawyers Association of New York
City; he often appears as an invited speaker at local and state bar
association meetings and at law schools in the metropolitan area; and
WHEREAS, Moreover, Arthur L. Aidala has been featured on various
television programs as a legal expert, including Fox 5, NY1, MSNBC and
Court TV; he has also been heard on WINS, WCBS, and WABC radio; in
September of 2005, he became an official legal contributor/analyst of
Fox News Channel, where he now appears exclusively on various day and
prime time programs; and
WHEREAS, In addition to practicing law, Arthur L. Aidala lectures
regularly to Trial Advocacy students at Fordham Law School, Brooklyn Law
School and St. John's School of Law; he has also spoken at both the New
York City Bar Association and the Kings County Criminal Bar Association,
and with Professor Alan Dershowitz at Harvard Law School; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Arthur L. Aidala has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Arthur L. Aidala has
displayed throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Arthur L. Aidala, Esq. upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the 2017 Civic Award by the Bay Ridge Community Council;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Arthur L. Aidala, Esq.
