HONORING Aislinn Ryan upon the occasion of being
inducted into the first class of the Section IX
Track and Field Hall of Fame on May 20, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
outstanding athletes who have distinguished themselves through their
exceptional performance, attaining unprecedented success and the highest
level of personal achievement; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Aislinn Ryan upon the occasion of being inducted into the first class of
the Section IX Track and Field Hall of Fame to be celebrated at a
Ceremony on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Kuhl's Highland House in
Middletown, New York; and

WHEREAS, A 2006 graduate of Warwick Valley High School, Aislinn Ryan
is a three-time individual Section IX Class AA and Orange County
Champion in cross country from 2003-2005; currently, she continues to
hold the second fastest time at the Bear Mountain Cross Country
Invitational Meet held in 2004; and

WHEREAS, In that same year, Aislinn Ryan won the Footlocker Cross
Country Championship, and captured the New York State Championships in
2005; she also qualified for the 2007 World Junior Championships in
cross country; and

WHEREAS, In addition to running cross country, Aislinn Ryan
participated in long-distance running events in both indoor and outdoor
track; she was a three-time indoor 3000M National Champion, and in 2005
and 2006, she won the 3000M race at the state Outdoor Championships; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, Aislinn Ryan captured the 3000M Indoor
Championship in 2006, and was the winner of the mile at the prestigious
Millrose Games, an annual indoor athletics meet; to this day, she holds
the record of the Section IX fastest mile at a time of 4:49.2; and

WHEREAS, This talented athlete was named an All-American in high
school in cross country, and indoor and outdoor track an astounding 19
times; and

WHEREAS, Aislinn Ryan has been an inspiration to countless track and
field fans, as well as to the community-at-large, and accordingly merits
recognition and applause for her tremendous passion for the sport and
competitive spirit; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such outstanding athletic accomplishments are brought to
our attention, they should be recognized by all the citizens of this
great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Aislinn Ryan upon the occasion of being inducted into the

first class of the Section IX Track and Field Hall of Fame on May 20,
2017; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Aislinn Ryan.
