HONORING Joe Iatauro upon the occasion of being
inducted into the first class of the Section IX
Track and Field Hall of Fame on May 20, 2017
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to commend notable educators and
athletic coaches who serve the youth of this great Empire State and who
have distinguished themselves and their schools through outstanding
commitment and exemplary athletic achievement; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Joe Iatauro upon the occasion of being inducted into the first class of
the Section IX Track and Field Hall of Fame to be celebrated at a
Ceremony on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Kuhl's Highland House in
Middletown, New York; and
WHEREAS, From 1974-2013, Joe Iatauro served as a cross country, and
indoor and outdoor track and field coach at Tri-Valley High School;
under his luminous leadership, the teams won numerous Western Sullivan
League, Orange County League, and Section IX Class C and D Championships
in all three sports; and
WHEREAS, Joe Iatauro also coached state individual champions, Chip
Furman, Theo Chewiwi, and Travis Wolfe, as well as National Medalists,
Ryan Loughney, Garrett Gray, Kristen Agnew, Joe Iatauro, and Theo
Chewiwi; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Joe Iatauro led 14 individual boys to titles
in Section IX Cross Country at Bear Mountain; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to the sport, Joe Iatauro served as the Section
IX Boy's Track and Field State Chairman from 1984-2013, and the Hudson
Valley Region Track and Field Coordinator for the Empire State Games
from 1981-2010; and
WHEREAS, Joe Iatauro's positive demeanor, selfless commitment, and
caring concern have contributed to his enduring success as a coach and
mentor, earning him the just respect and admiration of his community,
his peers, and the athletes he has so ably coached; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Joe Iatauro upon the occasion of being inducted into the
first class of the Section IX Track and Field Hall of Fame on May 20,
2017; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Joe Iatauro.
