HONORING Thomas Kachadurian upon the occasion of
being named the 2017 New York State Secondary
Principal of the Year by the School Administrators
Association of New York State and the National
Association of Elementary School Principals

WHEREAS, New York State's commitment to education is unparalleled;
its history and stature are secured by the superlative caliber of its
educational professionals and the students they inspire; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
individuals in the distinguished careers of those outstanding
educational leaders, whose dedication and achievements have been
instrumental in developing character and academic excellence in the
young people of New York State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Thomas Kachadurian upon the occasion of being named the 2017 New York
State Secondary Principal of the Year by the School Administrators
Association of New York State and the National Association of Elementary
School Principals; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Kachadurian is being recognized with this auspicious
award for setting the pace, character, and quality of education for the
students in his school; he is steadfastly committed to students,
parents, and the community, and has shown exceptional contributions to
the educational process; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Kachadurian, an associate principal at Colonie
Central High School in the South Colonie Central School District, is
known as a dedicated leader with limitless energy, empowering both
students and staff to embody a culture of caring and commitment to the
greater school community; and

WHEREAS, In an effort to return the Colonie Central High School
culture to a place of Raider pride where all students and staff share
ownership and responsibility for their community, Thomas Kachadurian
created Raiderfest, an event focused on celebrating community; and

WHEREAS, In addition, he developed iCARE, a unique character
education program designed to give a voice to the voiceless, and empower
the marginalized and disenfranchised; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Kachadurian, a tireless champion of what it means to
be a person of character, has been instrumental in developing his
students self-confidence, as well as communication and leadership
skills; and

WHEREAS, After receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree from Hartwick
College, Thomas Kachadurian went on to earn a Master of Science degree
in Education from SUNY Albany, and a Master's degree in Educational
Leadership from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts; and


WHEREAS, Educators like Thomas Kachadurian provide a tremendous
service to the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of
young people in their educational journeys and ensuring their success in
their future years; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Kachadurian has clearly had an enduring impact on
the youth of Colonie Central High School, as well as the
community-at-large, and accordingly merits recognition and applause for
his impressive dedication to others; and

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals who work to support our proud tradition of
public education by providing their skills and talents to our schools;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Thomas Kachadurian upon the occasion of being named the 2017 New
York State Secondary Principal of the Year by the School Administrators
Association of New York State and the National Association of Elementary
School Principals; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Thomas Kachadurian.
