CONGRATULATING the Hudson Valley New York Mariners
upon the occasion of capturing the 2016 NABA Florida
World Series

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be
achieved only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit,
nurtured by dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those exemplary sports teams within the State of New York
who have inspired and brought pride to their community by achieving
outstanding success in athletic competition; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate the Hudson Valley New York Mariners upon the occasion of
capturing the 2016 NABA Florida World Series on November 5-8, 2016, in
Jupiter, Florida; and

WHEREAS, Competing against 6 of the top 18+ Open teams from across
the United States and Canada, the Hudson Valley Mariners combined
exceptional pitching, timely hitting, solid defense and a great strategy
to win their fifth National Championship in the past eight years; and

WHEREAS, On their way to winning the 2016 NABA Florida World Series
title, the New York Mariners went 5-0 in Pool Play going undefeated,
including wins over the South Carolina A's and Chicago Royals; and

WHEREAS, Shortstop/Pitcher Casey Chenoweth, was the Mariners' most
valuable player of the tournament, playing flawless defense with no
errors at shortstop and pitching to close out pool game 4 against the
powerful Los Tigres team; and

WHEREAS, Rookie pitcher Clay Chapman started the Championship game
pitching 8 strong with 9 strikeouts and 2 earned runs against the
Florida Los Tigres team to lead the Mariners to the title; and

WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by this team is due in great
part to the efforts of Player/Manager Dave Prince and Coach/Player Scott
Marsh, skilled and inspirational tutors who have done a superb job in
guiding, molding and inspiring the Mariners toward their goals; and

WHEREAS, Loyally and enthusiastically supported by family, fans,
friends and the community at large, the New York Mariners have proven
themselves to be a brotherhood of athletic ability and an unbeatable
combination of talents and have stood the test of time being together 12
years; and

WHEREAS, The members of the New York Mariners who were issued 2016
Florida World Series rings are: Steve Aurigemma, Dan Miller, Jared
Bahnsen, Jeremy Lopez, Josh Peterson, Josh Maddocks, Bevan Gouveiah,
Nick Dimarco, Casey Chenoweth, Larry Kowaleski, Zach Westcott, Tim
Battle, Clay Chapman, Marty Anderson, JoJo Rodrigez, Albert Mojica, Bret

Samboy, Joey Dyche, Diego Ibarra, Carlton Salters, and Matt Petro;
Sponsors Flames Steak House, Union Square Cafe, Garrison Tree, and
BarPor Corp.; Manager/Player David Prince; and Coach/Player Scott March;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the members of the Hudson Valley New York Mariners upon the
occasion of capturing the 2016 NABA Florida World Series; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of the Hudson Valley New York Mariners, the
aforementioned sponsors, Manager/Player David Prince, and Coach/Player
Scott March.
