CONGRATULATING Eleanor Arlene Esch upon the
occasion of celebrating her 100th Birthday
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commemorate
and recognize certain milestones celebrated by citizens of this great
Nation and Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Eleanor Arlene Esch upon the occasion of celebrating her
100th Birthday; and
WHEREAS, Eleanor Esch was born on February 8, 1917, on a farm in
East Liberty, Ohio, to loving parents, William A. Bernel and Ida E.
Eisenhart Bernel; she attended Akron High School in Ohio and graduated
with the Class of 1936; and
WHEREAS, Eleanor Esch worked nearly 10 years for her brother's
family-owned business, Bernel Foam Products in Buffalo, New York; she
served as the Office Manager and would later retire in 1965; and
WHEREAS, Eleanor Esch married the love of her life, Warren Curtis
Esch on June 16, 1939, in Akron, Ohio; she was a loving and dedicated
wife, and was always helping others in need; some of her favorite
pastimes include sewing, and playing the piano, which she learned as a
child, followed by the organ in later years; and
WHEREAS, Eleanor Esch has achieved many milestones over her last 100
years including: in April of 1990, she was one of the original founders
of the Cassadaga Food Pantry and still volunteers today; she received
the 2007 Axel W. Carlson Award "Unsung Hero Award" by the Community
Foundation; she was for years an active member and served on the
Deaconate Board for the Cassadaga Community Baptist Church; and she was
a member of the Cassadaga Kiwanis Club, holding several different
offices and was a recipient of the 1998 Kiwanian of the Year Award; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Eleanor Esch was a member of the
Cassadaga-Stockton-Lily Dale Senior Citizens for more than 20 years,
serving as Vice President and President, holding these top offices for
five years; in 1990, she was chosen as Senior Citizen of the Year; and
was the puppet lady and volunteered for the Reading Program at the
Cassadaga and Sinclairville Elementary Schools; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly
recognize and honor the lives of beloved citizens who have reached a
remarkable age and who have witnessed and celebrated the outstanding
innovations, cultural developments, and awesome achievements of this
country during the last century; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Eleanor Arlene Esch upon the occasion of celebrating her
100th Birthday; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Eleanor Esch.
