HONORING Emil Radkov, Ljudmil Grigorov, Anant
Setlur and Alok Srivastava as the 2017 Inventors of
the Year by the Eastern New York Intellectual
Property Law Association
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute
and commend those prominent individuals associated with the State of New
York whose outstanding and creative minds, achievements and
contributions have improved the quality of life for our State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, It is also the custom of this Legislative Body to
commemorate significant events which represent turning points in our
unique history and which are indelibly etched in the saga of our great
Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Emil Radkov, Ljudmil Grigorov, Anant Setlur and Alok Srivastava at
Lumination, LLC as the 2017 Inventors of the Year by the Eastern New
York Intellectual Property Law Association to be celebrated at its
Dinner Meeting on Wednesday, May 24, 2017; and
WHEREAS, These respected scientists and engineers are being
recognized for U.S. Patent Number 7,497,973 entitled "Red line emitting
phosphor materials for use in LED applications"; one application of this
invention relates to the next generation display screen technology; and
WHEREAS, The selection committee for this esteemed honor considers
multiple factors including creativity, economic value, the difficulty of
the problem, the contribution to the well-being of society as a whole,
and the potential impact of the invention; and
WHEREAS, Previous winners' inventions have been drawn from varying
technologies such as fuel cell development, gas turbine technology,
pharmaceuticals, medical and surgical devices, computer software and
hardware, and high performance ceramic materials; and
WHEREAS, These four extraordinary men have exhibited the true spirit
of the prestigious Inventor of the Year Award; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who so
drastically enhanced the well-being and vitality of their world and have
shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence, certainly have
earned the recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Emil Radkov, Ljudmil Grigorov, Anant Setlur, and Alok Srivastava
at Lumination, LLC as the 2017 Inventors of the Year by the Eastern New
York Intellectual Property Law Association; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Emil Radkov, Ljudmil Grigorov, Anant Setlur, Alok
Srivastava and the Eastern New York Intellectual Property Law
Association.
