COMMEMORATING the 50th Anniversary of the Rome
College Foundation on November 4, 2016
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Rome College Foundation to be
celebrated with a Food for Thought Dinner on Friday, November 4, 2016,
at The Beeches Inn & Conference Center, Rome, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Rome College Foundation is a not-for-profit
organization founded in 1966, and supported by the Rome Area Chamber of
Commerce and other local groups; and
WHEREAS, Located in offices of the Chamber of Commerce in downtown
Rome, New York, this vital organization is managed by a Board of
Trustees representing local businesses, industries, professions and
academic institutions; and
WHEREAS, Remaining true to its mission, the Rome College Foundation
promotes and enhances the local community's needs for higher educational
opportunities; and
WHEREAS, With a goal to develop, advocate and offer a wide variety
of college programs for all area residents, the Rome College Foundation
is committed to serving its community's needs by encouraging and
enriching higher education opportunities for local students, building a
better workforce for the future; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to its community, the Rome College Foundation
has co-sponsored several programs administered by the Chamber's
Education Committee including: Sophomore Mentoring Program for students
at RFA, RCS, and NYSSD; College Night at RFA; the "Be Cool" substance
abuse education program in cooperation with Rome Memorial Hospital for
fifth graders; the "Starting Off On The Right Foot" program for
college-bound high school graduates; and the traveling art exhibit by
elementary school students; and
WHEREAS, Over its distinguished 50 year history, the Rome College
Foundation has demonstrated continuous service to the residents and
communities which it serves; and
WHEREAS, The success of the Rome College Foundation is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its board members, whose involvement is,
and always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an
unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in
all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves;
and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Rome College
Foundation; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Rome College Foundation on
November 4, 2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Rome College Foundation.
