HONORING Lili DeGraw upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar
Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES on April
27, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its
young citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and
accomplishments exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great
State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Lili DeGraw
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar
Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES which was celebrated at its
Fourth Annual Awards Breakfast, on Thursday, April 27, 2017, at Kuhl's
Highland House, Middletown, New York; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious award recognizes outstanding high school
students for their accomplishments and/or performances in the arts,
including fine arts, theater, and music; and

WHEREAS, Lili DeGraw has distinguished herself as a young woman of
superlative ability, talent, and maturity, establishing standards of
excellence and achievement, purposefulness of life, and responsibility
rarely achieved in youthful years; and

WHEREAS, A senior at Port Jervis High School, in Port Jervis, New
York, Lili DeGraw will be attending SUNY Potsdam/Crane School of Music
in Potsdam, New York, this fall; she plans to major in both Music
Performance and Biology; and

WHEREAS, Lili DeGraw is currently the treasurer of the Port Jervis
High School Music Department, Bb Clarinet Section leader of the
Symphonic Band, and a member of the National Honor Society; and

WHEREAS, Throughout her high school career, Lili DeGraw has
participated in countless performances including the Area All-State
Music Festival and All-County Music Festival, where last year she was
first chair of the Honors Band and this year she was second chair of the
Orchestra; and

WHEREAS, Additionally, Lili DeGraw participated in the Susquehanna
University Honors Festival where she held the esteemed position of first
chair for both the Honors Band, and the Hudson Valley Honors Youth Wind
Ensemble; and

WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Lili DeGraw
has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and

WHEREAS, Lili DeGraw may stand with pride in her achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her
accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she
continues her education; and


WHEREAS, Lili DeGraw represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of her
future; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Lili DeGraw upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES, and to
wish her well in her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Lili DeGraw.
