COMMEMORATING the Sesquicentennial Anniversary of
the birthday of Frank Lloyd Wright

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is moved to publicly recognize the
life of those internationally recognized, prominent citizens whose
lifework and purposeful endeavors served to enrich and enhance the
quality and character of life throughout the world community; and

WHEREAS, Frank Lloyd Wright is considered one of America's most
recognized, celebrated and revolutionary architects, whose distinguished
projects will be a standard to which others aspire to be; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the sesquicentennial anniversary of the birthday of Frank
Lloyd Wright; and

WHEREAS, Frank Lloyd Wright's 150th birthday will be celebrated with
a week-long event series at the Frank Lloyd Wright's Martin House and
Graycliff Conservancy; and

WHEREAS, In partnership with the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation and
other local organizations in the Buffalo, New York, area, the events are
designed to engage the Western New York community with Frank Lloyd
Wright's legacy through education and entertainment; and

WHEREAS, A masterpiece of 20th century architecture, the Martin
House is a multi-structure estate that Frank Lloyd Wright created for
Darwin D. Martin; it is widely considered one of his finest Prairie
Houses, a signature work from the early years of his celebrated career;
and

WHEREAS, Today, the Martin House Restoration corporation is bringing
it back to its former magnificence in the most ambitious restoration of
a Frank Lloyd Wright site ever undertaken; three of its original
elements, the pergola, conservatory and carriage house, which were all
demolished decades ago, will be rebuilt in the first-ever reconstruction
of Wright buildings; and

WHEREAS, Those individuals, who gave so selflessly of their skills
and dedication, are worthy and due full recognition for their valued
contributions on behalf of their nation and its ideals; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
have enhanced the quality of life in this State and Nation and have
shown a long and sustained commitment to the maintenance of high
standards in their profession, certainly have earned the recognition and
applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore,
be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the sesquicentennial anniversary of the birthday of Frank
Lloyd Wright; and be it further


RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Frank Lloyd Wright Conservancy.
