HONORING Marlies Wesolowski upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the Inclusion Award
by Leadership Buffalo

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Marlies Wesolowski upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Inclusion Award by Leadership Buffalo, celebrated at its Values
Awards Luncheon on Thursday, May 4, 2017, at the Hyatt Regency Buffalo,
in Buffalo, New York; and

WHEREAS, Founded on the idea of equality, Leadership Buffalo unites
leaders from diverse backgrounds to increase their knowledge of
community issues, broaden their vision and enhance their ability to
lead; and

WHEREAS, With more than 2,500 individuals from a variety of
programs, Leadership Buffalo has greatly expanded Western New York's
social capital; and

WHEREAS, Through a series of day sessions, Leadership Buffalo allows
participants to explore the challenges, concepts, complexity and
practice of leadership concerning various important issues; these
programs include Class Experience, Rising Leaders, Experience Buffalo,
Youth Leadership, and Leadership Buffalo Revisited; and

WHEREAS, The Values Awards Luncheon honors leaders in the community
which embody one of Leadership Buffalo's four core values: service,
inclusion, diversity and openness to change; and

WHEREAS, Marlies Wesolowski is the Executive Director of the Lt.
Col. Matt Urban Human Services Center of Western New York, a
multi-faceted agency providing numerous programs including: housing
services, senior services, senior apartments, weatherization program,
youth and family services, homeless outreach services, G.E.D. and work
skills training, crime victims assistance, three food pantries and the
Matt Urban Hope Center; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Marlies Wesolowski has
displayed throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it


RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Marlies Wesolowski upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the Inclusion Award by Leadership Buffalo; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Marlies Wesolowski.
