COMMEMORATING the 100th Anniversary of the
Beaverkill Chapter of the National Society of
Daughters of the American Revolution
WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in this Nation, and the
great State of New York, is reflective of the purposeful lives and good
works of those patriotic and civic-minded organizations and community
members who dedicate their lives to the service of others; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commemorate the
100th Anniversary of the Beaverkill Chapter of the National Society of
Daughters of the American Revolution, to be celebrated with a Luncheon
on Saturday, August 19, 2017, at Rockland House, Roscoe, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Beaverkill Chapter of the National Society of Daughters
of the American Revolution was organized in 1917, and took the name of
the world famous trout stream that flows through Sullivan County; and
WHEREAS, Membership is open to any female applicant who is 18 years
or older and who can provide a direct bloodline from an ancestor who
aided in the War for Independence either in military, civil or patriotic
service between the dates of April 19, 1775 and November 26, 1783; and
WHEREAS, The Beaverkill Chapter of the National Society of Daughters
of the American Revolution is active and meets nine months of the year,
April through December, on the first Friday of the month at locations
determined by its program committee; and
WHEREAS, This vital organization works with schools by providing the
DAR American History Essay Contest, the DAR Good Citizen Scholarship
Program, through participation with Patriotism Awards for Roscoe
Central's sixth graders and to graduating seniors at Western Sullivan
Central School; and
WHEREAS, In addition, the Beaverkill Chapter of the National Society
of Daughters of the American Revolution actively supports the Sullivan
County Historical Society and local food pantries; and
WHEREAS, Over its distinguished 100 year history, the Beaverkill
Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution
has demonstrated continuous service to the residents and communities
which it serves; and
WHEREAS, The success of the Beaverkill Chapter of the National
Society of Daughters of the American Revolution is in direct correlation
to the efforts of its members, whose involvement is, and always has
been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled
enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all
endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Beaverkill Chapter
of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Beaverkill Chapter of the
National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Beaverkill Chapter of the National Society of
Daughters of the American Revolution.
