HONORING Susan Cheng upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the Orange
County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a
2017 Senior Scholar-Athlete

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its
young citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and
accomplishments exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great
State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Susan Cheng
upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by the
Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a 2017 Senior
Scholar-Athlete; this momentous occasion was celebrated with a Breakfast
on Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Kuhl's Highland House, Middletown, New
York; and

WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Susan Cheng has
distinguished herself as a young woman of superlative ability, talent,
and maturity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement,
purposefulness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful
years; and

WHEREAS, A student at Middletown High School, Susan Cheng has a
99.53 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society, Student
Council, and Student Enrichment; she was a member of the yearbook staff,
and plays an instrument in the orchestra; and

WHEREAS, Susan Cheng is also a member of the tennis team, where she
holds the title of captain; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to her community, Susan Cheng gives tirelessly of
her time and energies to volunteering at Habitat for Humanity; and

WHEREAS, Susan Cheng plans to major in engineering at college this
fall; and

WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Susan Cheng
has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and

WHEREAS, Susan Cheng may stand with pride in her achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her
accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she
continues her education; and

WHEREAS, Susan Cheng represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of her
future; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Susan Cheng upon the occasion of her designation for special

recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as
a 2017 Senior Scholar-Athlete, and to wish her well in her future
endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Susan Cheng.
