HONORING Garrett Kolvenbach upon the occasion of
his designation for special recognition by the
Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association
as a 2017 Senior Scholar-Athlete

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its
young citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and
accomplishments exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great
State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Garrett
Kolvenbach upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition
by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a 2017
Senior Scholar-Athlete; this momentous occasion was celebrated with a
Breakfast on Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Kuhl's Highland House,
Middletown, New York; and

WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Garrett Kolvenbach has
distinguished himself as a young man of superlative ability, talent, and
maturity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement,
purposefulness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful
years; and

WHEREAS, A student at Eldred Junior Senior High School, Garrett
Kolvenbach is ranked ninth in his class with a 90.87 GPA; he is a member
of the National Honor Society and Band; and

WHEREAS, In addition, he is a member of the baseball, soccer,
wrestling and basketball teams; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to his community, Garrett Kolvenbach gives
tirelessly of his time and energies to volunteering with Boy Scouts,
National Honor Society Blood Drive and the community clean-up; and

WHEREAS, Garrett Kolvenbach plans to attend Misericordia University
in the fall where he will major in physical therapy; and

WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for his classmates, Garrett
Kolvenbach has brought honor to his family, school, and community; and

WHEREAS, Garrett Kolvenbach may stand with pride in his
achievements, experiencing the satisfaction of his labors and the joy of
his accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as
he continues his education; and

WHEREAS, Garrett Kolvenbach represents the potential inherent in our
most precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to
honor this young man, recognizing his achievements and the promise of
his future; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Garrett Kolvenbach upon the occasion of his designation for

special recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic
Association as a 2017 Senior Scholar-Athlete, and to wish him well in
his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Garrett Kolvenbach.
