HONORING Thomas Nafash upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the Orange
County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a
2017 Senior Scholar-Athlete

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its
young citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and
accomplishments exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great
State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Thomas
Nafash upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by
the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a 2017 Senior
Scholar-Athlete; this momentous occasion was celebrated with a Breakfast
on Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Kuhl's Highland House, Middletown, New
York; and

WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Thomas Nafash has
distinguished himself as a young man of superlative ability, talent, and
maturity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement,
purposefulness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful
years; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Nafash, a student at Warwick Valley High School,
ranked 2nd in his class with a 96.73 GPA; he participated in numerous
sports including cross country, indoor track and outdoor track; and

WHEREAS, A class officer and a member of numerous organizations
including National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society,
Leadership Academy and Student Senate, Thomas Nafash plans to attend
college and major in chemical engineering; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to his community, Thomas Nafash enjoys assisting
with the Special Olympics and the local Recreation Department; and

WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for his classmates, Thomas Nafash
has brought honor to his family, school, and community; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Nafash may stand with pride in his achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of his labors and the joy of his
accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as he
continues his education; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Nafash represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young man, recognizing his achievements and the promise of his
future; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Thomas Nafash upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as

a 2017 Senior Scholar-Athlete, and to wish him well in his future
endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Thomas Nafash.
