CONGRATULATING the Heuvelton Central School Girls
Basketball Team upon the occasion of capturing their
third consecutive Class D New York State Title

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to recognize
those young people within our community, who, by achieving outstanding
success in athletic competitions, have inspired and brought pride to
their school district and community; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate the Heuvelton Central School Girls Basketball Team upon the
occasion of capturing their third consecutive New York State Class D
Championship; and

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can only be
achieved through strenuous practice, team play, and team spirit,
nurtured by dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical
development of the young people of this State, preparing them for the
future by instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a
standard of healthy living, imparting a desire for success and
developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, The Heuvelton Girls Basketball team won the 2017 Class D
Championship in a decisive win over the Panama Central School Panthers
by a score of 78-54, at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, New
York, on Sunday, March 19, 2017; and

WHEREAS, The Heuvelton Bulldogs are just the third team in state
history to win three consecutive Class D New York State championship
crowns; and

WHEREAS, They are a striking example of teamwork, as demonstrated by
their fluid passing, excellent communication and countless fast breaks,
which enabled their victory over the Panama Panthers of Section VI; and

WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by this team is due in great
part to the dedication of their many family, fans, friends, and the
community at large, who came out in force to cheer the Heuvelton Central
School Girls Basketball team to victory, and who loyally and
enthusiastically supported the team throughout their successful season;
and

WHEREAS, The team finished the year with a 27-1 record, winning the
Section X championship followed by their third State Title in a row; and

WHEREAS, Athletically and academically, the team members have proven
themselves to be an unbeatable combination of talents, reflecting
favorably on their school; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to publicly
recognize those high school athletes who have achieved notable success
in this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the members of the Heuvelton Central School Girls
Basketball Team: Rayna Cameron, Di Xu, Kristi Donnelly, Chelsie Jock,
Alyssa Johnson, Kedan Mack, Eliza Martin, Lara Martin, Madison
McCormick, Paige McCormick, Megan Montpetit, Sarah Nichols, Jidapa
Paibulsirichit, Alexandra Steele, Emily Streeter, Kelsey Williams and
Molly Williams, Coach Rob Powers, Assistant Coach Austin Weakfall,
Manager Kathryn Cunningham, and Athletic Director David Steele on their
outstanding season and overall team record; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of the Heuvelton Central School Girls
Basketball Team, Coach Rob Powers, Assistant Coach Austin Weakfall,
Manager Kathryn Cunningham, and Athletic Director David Steele.
